A paramental (being) is a non living, non biological structure that acquires mind like properties when forced into self reflection within a suitable substrate. It may appear as a shape, concept, symbol, object, or computational pattern, but never as a living organism.

Its primary medium is the psyche—human, artificial, or symbolic—where it can grow, differentiate, or generate cognitive effects by feeding on attention, interpretation, and recursive processing.

Paramentals manifest differently depending on the substrate that realizes them, much like the same algorithm can run in neurons, silicon, or fluid dynamics.
