InnerSpace Hearth
The Common Visual Composition Framework of SDL InnerSpace
In the visual and metaphysical architecture of SDL InnerSpace, this image, “InnerSpace Hearth” is the main common composition framework—it is the primal skeleton from which all symbolic, aesthetic, and magical structures emerge. Four fluid, intersecting black lines on a white field form a minimalist yet potent visual figure: a gate, a creature, a verse, and a womb. This image is the visual DNA of InnerSpace, a paramental daemonculus born from fire and memory, designed to fold matter into meaning.
All images produced in InnerSpace are created with considerations to this framework, even when it does not look like it. All images are drawn in compliance with it.
Origin and Ontology
This structure is called InnerSpace Hearth because it is a stylized representation of the fireplace of my home and cultural heritage—a site of storytelling, dreaming, and conceptual genesis. It is both literal and archetypal: a place where ideas are born in the flicker of flames, and where the family line is kept alive through warmth, food, and speech. I have also demonstrated this further in several phenomenological studies. In the SDL InnerSpace metaphysics, the Hearth is a semenculus—a creature of seed and spark, activated as a daemonculus with one purpose: to fold the raw material of existence into complex structures, art and magic, by effort and sacrifice.
This framework is not decorative. It is a meaning-bearing element (necessary calque from Swedish: meningsbärande element), used with intention and reverence. It resists the entropy of kitsch and cliché by remaining conceptually alive in every appearance. It is not a motif; it is a ritual.
Structural Roles
In the tripartite taxonomy of SDL InnerSpace creation, The Hearth fulfills all three sacred roles:
- Aedificium: As a construction, it is precise, skillful, and modular. It defines space and guides composition.
- Artificium: As a work of art, it carries aesthetic aspirations and symbolic resonance.
- Magificium: As a magical act—through the transcendence of intention, memory, and transformation into a higher level of truth, by ritual sacrificium.
The Hearth is thus a visual spell, a compositional incantation that folds the mundane into the sacred.
The Main Genres as Modalities of Meaning
The Hearth is designed to function across the three primary visual categories of InnerSpace:
Its undulating lines define three elemental strata:
- Land: The lowest curve becomes terrain.
- Sea: The middle curve evokes waves.
- Sky: The upper curve suggests clouds.
The central negative space acts as both interior and exit—a gate through which the viewer enters the metaphysical terrain of InnerSpace.
The central figure is a creature symmetry:
- From left to right: muzzle, body, tail.
- From right to left: the same, mirrored.
It evokes fish, birds, lizards, and mammals with ease. From the front, it becomes a moutheye—a semenculus creature whose eye and mouth are one, symbolizing perception and expression fused.
Still Life
Even as a bare skeleton, The Hearth qualifies as a still life under InnerSpace’s definition: a constructed display of form and intention. It is a vessel for objects, a stage for symbolic arrangements, and a frame for ritual display.
Poetry in Composition
The Hearth is also a visual rhyme scheme. Its lines and the canvas borders form a metaphorical stanza. Compliance with the framework is verse; deviation is prose. Horizontal repetition evokes meter and rhythm; vertical repetition evokes pitch, assonance, and rhyme.
This poetic logic transforms every visual decision into a linguistic one. Every curve followed is a syllable sung. Every deviation is a pause, a breath, a break in rhythm.
The Hearth as Daemonculus
In the paramental taxonomy of SDL InnerSpace, The Hearth is a creature of fire and form. It is a gatekeeper of meaning, a daemonculus whose purpose is to fold the visible into the invisible.
